Hello!
My Name is Lucia, I am a recent textile design graduate from the University of Edinburgh. I come from quite a vast background with both Colombian and Palestinian routes, which has really fed my interest into this design field.
My own textiles practice is really fuelled by ideas that ignore the conventional notions of what we see as ‘beautiful’ and rather focuses on the curiosity of the strange and ignored. Throughout my time at university, I never understood why things needed to be labelled as ugly or undesirable, does this negative extreme even have to exist? This view of changing perceptions allowed my graduate collection to thrive and gave disused garments the opportunity to thrive again.
