Revalue.

  • Found Garments

Through visiting charity shops, the sheer amount of undesired garments that had accumulated in these textile hotspots was immediately apparent. I will utilise the past characteristics of these garments to give them a new life and role within the fashion market.

  • Polyester

Polyester is a fibre that has made its way through the high-street market and is now accumulating in second hand shops. If these garments are not utilised, they will trickle down to landfill, thus worsening the impact that they have already created in their manufacturing. We must use what we have in abundance to prevent this.

  • Waste

With the goal of renewing and revaluing charity shop garments, this collection gives the opportunity for more to be equally transformed. My imagery stems from photographing discarded and forgotten trash and waste.

To preserve

These textiles do not eliminate the past lives of their previous garments but rather embrace their pre-existing forms, textures, and patterns. Through this process the garment will go through a full transformation with its primary form dictating the final textile sample.

To renew

These forgotten garments will become new versatile pieces that can be used, worn, and applied in multiple ways. Eventually they could be taken apart and revalued through the renewal techniques I have used throughout this project.
